The JCIBPC granted eight test programs for the 2013 - 2014 marketing year during its annual meeting.  A summary of committee actions follows. The summary contains information about the type of test program granted, a short description of the material or system being tested, the name of the company sponsoring the program, the number of years in a test program, the size of the test program, any special requirements for the test program and some key physical properties of the material or the nature of the system being tested. All tests are to be conducted in all four regions of the cotton belt unless an exception to this provision is noted.

Experimental Test Programs (ETP)

100% woven cotton bag (L. P. Brown Co.)
Year of ETP, 9; Size of ETP, 300,000 B/C1; Special Conditions: to be tested only in the West; Physical properties: construction, spiral sewn; yarn count, 36 x 32 (warp x weft (fill)); yarn size, 9.34 Ne  x 9.57 Ne; fabric weight, 4.87 oz/sqyd (1.9 lb/bag).

100% woven cotton bag (Langston Companies)
Year of ETP, 6; Size of ETP, 120,000 B/C; Special Conditions: to be tested only in the West; Physical properties: construction, 97 in spiral sewn bag; yarn count, 37 x 33 (warp x weft (fill) fabric); yarn size, 10 x 10; fabric weight, 5.5 oz/sqyd (2.2 lb/bag); bursting strength, 64 lb x 41 lb.

Polypropylene (PP) 8 x 8 (warp x weft (filling) tapes) bale bag made from modified tapes (Cady Bag Company)
Year of ETP, 3; Size of ETP 500,000 B/C; Physical properties: construction, spiral sewn; tensile strength, warp 115 lb, weft 110 lb; yarn count/fabric construction, warp 8, weft 8; yarn size: warp 0.115 mil, weft 0.115 mil, 800 Denier (D) x 800 D; yarn and coating 3.5 mil average); elongation: 25% (warp and weft); UV Stability, > 70% @ 1,200 hours; film (coating) thickness, not less than 0.75 mil; coated fabric weight 2.3 oz/sqyd.

Large Capital Expenditure Requests

Automated system to fabricate, "form, fill and seal," sheets of polyethylene (PE) film into bale bags at gins (LP Brown Co.)
Year of ETP, 3; Size of ETP, up to twelve automated bagging systems which includes the three systems placed in 2012.
Note: the physical properties of the fabricated bags should meet or exceed the current specifications for PE film bags and the PE film must be sourced from the JCIBPC List of Approved Bagging Manufacturers; the purpose of the ETP is to demonstrate that a welded longitudinal seam in a gin fabricated PE film bag performs satisfactorily when exposed to severe handling and storage practices.

Year of CTP, 2; Size of CTP, 100,000 B/C for testing in all regions; Physical properties of straps: dimensions, gauge, 0.055 in (thickness) x 0.750 in (width), gauge tolerance, 0.054 – 0.058 in (thickness), 0.735 – 0.765 in (width); breaking strength, material: 2500 lb (average), 2300 lb (minimum); joint, 2200 lb (average), 2000 lb minimum, elongation, 12% - 16% (at break), <4% (at 1000 lb tension).

Year of CTP, 2; Size of CTP, 200,000 B/C MPV3460 ¾ in x 0.060 in PET Strap and 100,000 B/C MPV3455 ¾ in x 0.055 in PET Strap for testing in all regions.
Physical properties of straps: dimensions, gauge, 0.060 in (thickness) x 0.750 in (width), gauge tolerance, 0.059 – 0.062 in (thickness), 0.735 – 0.765 in (width); breaking strength, material: 2700 lb (average), 2600 lb (minimum); joint, 2200 lb (average), 2000 lb minimum, elongation, 12% - 16% (at break), <4% (at 1000 lb tension).
