In its final estimate of the 2024-25 U.S. cotton crop, USDA placed total production at 14.41 million bales, virtually unchanged from the January estimate. The upland crop estimate was lowered slightly from 13.95 million bales in January to an estimated 13.94 million bales while the ELS estimate was raised 3,000 bales to 471,000. Final planted area is estimated to be 11.18 million acres and final harvested area is estimated to be 7.81 million acres. The 2024-25 upland yield is an estimated 880 pounds per harvested acre, 26 pounds above the 5-year average of 854 pounds. The estimated national average ELS yield of 1,128 pounds per harvested acre represents a 191 pound decrease in yield when compared to the 5-year average.
