In its September crop report, USDA estimated a 2018-19 U.S. cotton crop of 19.68 million bales.
Upland production was estimated at 18.91 million bales and extra-long staple production at 771,000 bales.

Final 2021 USDA Crop Estimates In its final estimate of the 2021-22 U.S. cotton crop, USDA put total production at 17.52 million bales. USDA Prospective Plantings USDA’s March Prospective Plantings Report indicates U.S. producers intend to plant 12.2 million cotton acres in 2022, up 9.0% from the previous year.
