Saturday Luncheon with Todd Buchholz

Todd Buchholz is an internationally known commentator on the world economy, technology and financial markets. He is a frequent commentator on ABC News, PBS and CBS, and his views on politics, the stock market and interest rates are featured regularly in the The Wall Street Journal, The Washington Post and The New York Times. His editorials in the Journal and commentaries on PBS and CNBC correctly forecast the 2014 collapse in energy prices, the 2008 pop in commodity prices, the downgrade of the U.S. debt rating, and the 2001 recession. A former White House Economic Policy director, Buchholz also has advised key investment firms.
Harvard University awarded Buchholz its annual teaching prize in economics, and he has served as a Fellow at Cambridge University. He is the author of the acclaimed New Ideas From Dead Economists, and The Wall Street Journal named his latest book, The Price of Prosperity: Why Rich Nations Fail and How to Renew Them, a “must-read.” A co-producer of the Broadway hit musical Jersey Boys, he also is active in math education and is the inventor of the Math Arrow, which makes numbers more intuitive for children.

Get encouraged and inspired at the annual Prayer Breakfast from David Shivers who serves as Associate Pastor of Local & Global Outreach at Prestonwood Baptist Church. With two locations in Plano and Prosper, Prestonwood is one of the country’s largest and most dynamic churches with more than 45,000 members.
A native Texan, David was an outstanding basketball player in high school and played at Southern Methodist University. Feeling a call to the ministry, he attended Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary in Fort Worth, earning a Master of Arts in Christian Education. A minister for 20 years now, he currently is working toward a Doctorate in Education Ministry. Combining his love of sports with his passion for sharing the Gospel, David was grateful to serve as a chaplain for the Dallas Cowboys. He now serves as a chaplain for the Dallas Mavericks. David and his wife, Holly, reside in Plano with their four children.
