MEMPHIS, Tenn. - The National Cotton Council (NCC) greatly appreciates President Trump’s Executive Order providing temporary diesel tax relief by deferring the federal excise tax on dyed diesel used on-road through the end of the year and taking steps to help ensure farmers have access to dyed diesel fuel during periods of high demand.
“Cotton producers rely on diesel fuel throughout the growing season and especially during harvest,” said NCC Chairman Nathan Reed. “Since January, the price of farm diesel has doubled, adding almost $40 of new costs for each acre of cotton. Actions that help lower fuel costs and maintain reliable access to fuel can provide meaningful relief for growers facing continued economic challenges and rising input costs. We appreciate the Trump Administration’s recognition of the important role these inputs play in keeping U.S. agriculture moving.”
