MEMPHIS, Tenn. – Ambassador Gregg Doud, chief agricultural negotiator in the Office of the U.S. Trade Representative, will address the Sunday general session of the National Cotton Council’s 2020 Annual Meeting which is set for February 14-16 at the Sheraton New Orleans Hotel.

Prior to Ambassador Doud’s confirmation in 2018, he had served since 2013 as president of the Commodity Markets Council. He previously served as a senior professional staff member of the Senate Agriculture, Nutrition & Forestry Committee, and was part of the team that crafted the 2012 Senate farm bill.

The Annual Meeting’s first event begins at 1:30 p.m. on Friday, February 14. The "Program Committees Joint Meeting and Economic Outlook" convenes on Saturday, February 15, at 8 a.m. and will include the NCC's planting intentions survey results from Dr. Jody Campiche, the NCC’s vice president of Economics & Policy Analysis; a report from Cotton Incorporated President/CEO J. Berrye Worsham; and representatives from H+K Strategies providing an update on global textile sustainability trends, pressures faced by the brand/retailer community and how the U.S. Cotton Trust Protocol can meet the textile supply chain’s needs.

The Saturday luncheon will feature a “2020 Political and Election Outlook” by David Wasserman, who serves as House editor and senior election analyst for the non-partisan Cook Political Report.

As the unifying force of the U.S. cotton industry, the Memphis-based NCC brings together industry representatives from the 17 cotton-producing states to establish policies reflecting the common interests and promoting mutual benefits for its broad membership and ancillary industries. The NCC’s mission is ensuring the ability of all industry segments to compete effectively and profitably in the raw cotton, oilseed and U.S.-manufactured product markets at home and abroad.
