In 2007, the Supreme Court ruled that EPA had the authority under the Clean Air Act to regulate carbon dioxide and other greenhouse gases, provided the EPA finds that such pollution endangers human health and the environment.

In 2007, the Supreme Court ruled that EPA had the authority under the Clean Air Act to regulate carbon dioxide and other greenhouse gases, provided the EPA finds that such pollution endangers human health and the environment.  Chairman of the National Cotton Council, Eddie Smith, points out that in December 2009, EPA formally issued the required endangerment findings and in response, Senator Lisa Murkowski from Alaska introduced a resolution of disapproval.
