The tarnished plant bug has become the primary insect pest of cotton in the Mid-South region of the Cotton Belt.

The tarnished plant bug has become the primary insect pest of cotton in the Mid-South region of the Cotton Belt.  Jeff Gore, research entomologist at Mississippi State University Delta Research and Extension Service, says with the adoption of Bt-cotton and eradication of the boll weevil, the frequency of insecticide applications targeting these pests has declined.
