When transgenic varieties became available producers had to change the way they managed their weeds and insects.  According to Dr. Tom Barber, Extension Cotton Specialist for Mississippi State University, production management shifts have occurred as well.

According to Barber being good stewards of the technology is important to keep these products viable for the future.

There is an exciting future in biotechnology and many new value added traits down the line, says Barber.
