In order to get congress to take action on ag disaster assistance before the October recess, democratic members of the House are trying to get two hundred and eighteen signatures on a discharge petition.

Several parts of the country are suffering through the worst agricultural disasters seen in years. According to Robbie Minnich, Senior Government Relations Representative for the National Cotton Council, Congress is aware of the need for agriculture disaster assistance.

In order to get congress to take action on ag disaster assistance before the October recess, Minnich says democratic members of the House are trying to get two hundred and eighteen signatures on a discharge petition.

Minnich says these congressmen are working on a very short timetable to get the signatures needed on the petition.
