Cotton Newsline: August 11, 2006

Cotton producers from the southwest region of the cotton belt recently traveled to the midsouth region for the third tour of the 2006 Cotton Foundation Producer Information Exchange Program.

The Producer Information Exchange Program’s overall goal is to educate cotton growers by exposing them to diverse and innovative practices of the hosting region. Matt Huie, a producer from Beeville, Texas, says he hopes to share his experience with other producers back home.

The participants toured operations in Tennessee, Arkansas and Mississippi, observing the methods and technologies used. Chris Hurt from Saint Lawrence, Texas, another producer on the tour, explains that the most beneficial element of the program is seeing the distinctions between the mid-south region and his own.
