Darryl Earnest, deputy administrator for the Department of Agriculture’s, Agricultural Marketing Service, Cotton & Tobacco Program, shares details about the new Cotton Classification Complex in Lubbock, Texas. The project, which has been eight years in the making, is nearing completion and Earnest said the new facility will class cotton for the largest concentrated region of cotton production in the country this harvest season. Earnest also noted that the new facility is a great opportunity for partnership due to its location on the Texas Tech University campus for research, innovation, education and employment opportunities. He noted that as of now they plan for the new complex to open either the week of September 12 or the week of September 19.
