Federal Maritime Commissioner Rebecca Dye recently released the final fact-finding report titled, “The Effects of COVID-19 on the U.S. International Ocean Transportation Supply Chain.”
Robbie Minnich, senior government relations representative with the National Cotton Council, shares that the report details two recurring pandemic-related concerns that were highlighted by importers and exporters. The first being the high cost of shipping cargo, and the second being excessive demurrage and detention charges. Minnich explains now that the report is final, the full Federal Maritime Commission will review the 12 recommendations and make determinations.
