Earlier this week the ministers from the G-6 countries met for two days to try to narrow the differences in the WTO negotiations.

Earlier this week the ministers from the G-6 countries met for two days to try to narrow the differences in the WTO negotiations. According to Dr. Gary Adams, Vice-President of Economics and Policy Analysis for the National Cotton Council, it became clear the differences were not going to be narrowed so chairman Pascal Lamey suspended the negotiations indefinitely.

Suggested introduction cut 2:

Adams says the Council wants to praise and commend the U.S. negotiating team Ambassador Schwab and Agricultural Secretary Johanns for maintaining the U.S. position and standing firm on the earlier U.S. proposal that called for ambitious outcomes not only in domestic support but also market access.
