Vela Addressing 2019 NCC Annual Meeting

Rep. Filemon Vela (D-TX), chairman of the House Agriculture Committee’s Subcommittee on General Farm Commodities and Risk Management, will address delegates at the National Cotton Council’s 2019 Annual Meeting at the San Antonio Marriott Rivercenter Hotel.

MEMPHIS, Tenn. -- Rep. Filemon Vela (D-TX), chairman of the House Agriculture Committee’s Subcommittee on General Farm Commodities and Risk Management, will address delegates at the National Cotton Council’s 2019 Annual Meeting at the San Antonio Marriott Rivercenter Hotel.

Rep. Vela’s presentation will be at the Joint Session of Delegates that convenes at 8 a.m. on Saturday, February 9. The only Texas Democrat appointed to serve on both the 2014 and 2018 farm bill conference committees, Vela has served as the top Democratic Member of the Committee on Homeland Security’s Subcommittee on Border and Maritime Security. During that session, the NCC's planting intentions survey results will be included in the NCC’s economic outlook and a report will be given by Cotton Incorporated’s President & CEO J. Berrye Worsham.

Richard Fordyce, the administrator for USDA’s Farm Service Agency (FSA), will address the American Cotton Producers on Friday afternoon, February 8. Fordyce provides leadership for FSA and its mission to support agricultural production across America through a network of more than 2,100 county and 50 state offices. That evening, House Agriculture Committee Ranking Member Mike Conaway (R-TX) will provide special remarks during the Welcome to San Antonio Reception.

On the convention’s last day, Feb. 10, NCC Chairman Ron Craft will report on the NCC’s key 2018 activities.
