Bale Marker Evaluation Study

Questions continue to be asked about module marking materials. The message to producers and ginners remains the same: any material described as permanent should not be used as a module or a bale marker.

Mills are dissatisfied with any module or bale marking product that is not removable from the cotton because any marking material that cannot be removed during normal mill processing creates a permanent contaminant in cotton fabric. Producers are encouraged to use non-permanent module markers to prevent contamination events from occurring.

Different types of module markers were re-evaluated by Cotton Incorporated in 2021 to determine which markers were removable during scouring and bleaching.
