USDA's March Prospective Plantings Report indicates US producers intend to plant 10 million acres of cotton in 2013, down roughly 19% from 2012. In contrast, the Nation Cotton Council's planting intentions survey, released in early February, indicated US farmers intend to plant 8.81 million acres of upland cotton and 203,000 acres of ELS. Gary Adams, Vice President of Economics and Policy Analysis for the National Cotton Council, explains the differences in the two reports.
