Agriculture Secretary Mike Johanns announced this week that 51 watersheds in 50 states, the Pacific Islands and the Caribbean Area will be eligible for the 2007 Conservation Security Program. According to Robbie Minnich, Senior Government Relations representative for the National Cotton Council, this is the fourth year the Conservation Security Program has recognized farmers and ranchers for their ongoing stewardship on working agricultural lands.

Minnich says these fifty-one watersheds were announced by USDA based on President Bush’s requested funding level for the program in fiscal year 2007.

According to Minnich the National Cotton Council has provided a link on their website to the USDA’s list of the eligible watersheds.
