This week’s Cotton Newsline is 3 cuts. All cuts are Robbie Minnich, Senior Government Relations Representative for the National Cotton Council.
Suggested Introduction 1:
On April 5 House Budget Committee Chairman Ryan, Republican from Wisconsin, released a comprehensive budget proposal for Fiscal year 2012. Robbie Minnich, Senior Government Relations Representative for the National Cotton Council, says the proposal is $102 trillion below the President’s proposal.
Suggested Introduction 2:
Minnich says the Council joined other commodity and general farm organizations in urging Chairman Ryan to consider previous cuts in the ag baseline, to treat agriculture proportionately; and, to allow the House and Senate Agriculture Committees to make any necessary program adjustments.
Suggested Introduction 3:
According to Minnich it will be difficult if commodity and crop insurance programs are cut $30 billion.
Suggested Conclusion:
Minnich says deep cuts in agriculture may result in changes to the current farm bill or the need to write another Farm Bill sooner that most would like.
