Last week the House passed Food Safety bill HR 2749. Keith Menchey, manager of science and environmental issues for the National Cotton Council says that in the original bill there were a lot of Food and Drug Administration or FDA regulations on the farm and they have all been removed through negotiations.

According to Menchey this bill is going to substantially expand the FDA's ability to regulate food and food safety.
Suggested introduction cut 3:
Menchey says the Council plans to work with the Senate to improve this bill and address some areas of concern.
