USDA has published the March Prospective Plantings Report. According to Dr. Gary Adams, Vice-President of Economics and Policy Analysis for the National Cotton Council, strengthening prices for competing grain crops have caused a major decline in cotton acres compared to 2006.
Suggested introduction cut 2:
Adams says there are declines in all states but the Midsouth is seeing the biggest hit.

According to Adams, in the Far West upland and ELS acres are also seeing a decrease.
