The House passed a bill, on a strictly party line vote, to cut forty-nine and a half billion dollars from spending over the next five years.

This week’s Cotton Newsline is 3 cuts.  All cuts are Robbie Minnich (pronounced Men-ic), Senior Government Relations Representative for the National Cotton Council.

The House passed a bill, on a strictly party line vote, to cut forty-nine and a half billion dollars from spending over the next five years. According to Robbie Minnich, Senior Government Relations Representative for the National Cotton Council the House majority leaders agreed to a number of changes just before the vote in order to win the final wavering members.

According to Minnich, The Senate Agriculture Committee, under the guidance of Chairman Saxby Chambliss of Georgia earlier passed a reconciliation package that the Congressional Budget Office estimated would reduce mandatory programs under that Committee’s jurisdiction by 196 million dollars in fiscal year ’06 and just over 3 billion dollars for the next 5 years, covering Fiscal Years 2006-2010.
