The House recently passed a bi-partisan legislation called Strengthening the Ownership of Private Property Act or STOPP (pronounced stop).  According to Robbie Minnich, Senior Government Relations Representative for the National Cotton Council, this legislation - authored by Congressman Henry Bonilla (pronounced Bo-nee-ah)- will prevent governments from taking property from one private party and giving it to another private party.

Suggested introduction cut 2:

Minnich says this bill was written in response to a ruling by the Supreme Court early this year where the court moved to give local governments broad power to seize property to generate tax revenue.

Suggested introduction cut 3:

According to Minnich the Senate has yet to offer up an eminent domain measure.
