EVALUATION AND DEVELOPMENT OF CYCLONE DESIGN THEORY

ABSTRACT

An algorithm that would enable cyclone performance to be accurately characterized based on cyclone dimensions and operating parameters could significantly advance cyclone design technology. This type of model could provide for improvement of cyclone design allowing cyclones to be used as a final particulate abatement device. An adequate model to meet such an objective does not currently exist. This paper discusses the approach taken towards, and the initial findings of a new methodology to more accurately estimate cyclone performance.
