Cotton Short Fiber from Fibrogram and Regression Analysis

J.D. Bargeron III and Preston E. Sasser

ABSTRACT

Two approaches are being used by the manufacturers of high volume instruments to calculate the short fiber content of cottons. These are regression and fibrogram analysis. The fibrogram technique has the theoretical advantage. The Peyer MCI implementation of fibrogram theory produces short fiber measurements that agree well with those for the Suter-Webb method.
