ABSTRACT
Survival of two predaceous arthropods, the bigeyed bug, Geocoris spp. (Hemiptera: Lygaeidae) and the hooded beetle, Notoxus spp. (Coleoptera: Anthicidae) was observed after exposure to residues of insecticides on cotton in 1992 in Florence, South Carolina. Insecticides tested included Bolstar (1.0 lb [AI]/A), Curacron (0.75), Lannate (0.45), Larvin (0.75), and Orthene (0.75) alone and in combination with Ovasyn (0.125), an unregistered compound. Lannate + Ovasyn was tolerated well by both predaceous arthropods. Larvin was tolerated by Geocoris spp., and Karate was tolerated by Notoxus spp. Orthene was not tolerated by Notoxus spp. or Geocoris spp. Results indicate that selective insecticides may result in the preservation of important natural enemies.
