Impact of the Federal Clean Air Act on Agricultural Operations

Calvin B. Parnell, Jr.

ABSTRACT

The Federal Clean Air Act (FCAA) amendments have and will impact agricultural operations. They have had an impact in Texas through increased enforcement, new rules and regulations, and more citizen complaints, and they will have an even greater impact in the future because the authority to implement the FCAA will not be delegated to state air pollution control agencies until sometime in 1994. This paper outlines the steps that are being followed by state air pollution control agencies and the likely problems that have and will occur.
