Nematode Distribution and Injury

Don Blasingame

ABSTRACT

Cotton (Gossypium spp.) is host to numerous plant parasitic nematodes. State Surveys conducted in 1989-91 reveal that the root-knot (Meloidogyne incognita), reniform (Rotylenchulus reniformis), and lance (Hoplolaimus galeatus) nematodes were widespread throughout most of the cotton belt and in many areas above threshold areas. The root-knot was found in most areas where cotton is grown. The reniform was found in all locations except the far west. The lance nematode was a problem primarily in the southeast.
