RE-40885, a furanone herbicide synthesized by Chevron Chemical Company, has progressed through several years of primary evaluation and recently been elevated to development status. Field studies conducted at Chevron research facilities as well as university facilities throughout the cotton belt have shown excellent activity on a wide range of broadleaf weeds and a number of gramineous weeds. Preplant incorporated and preplant surface applications at rates ranging from 0.5 to 1.0lb. ai/A have consistently been efficacious.
