Cotton Leadership Program


Program Overview

Program Objective:
To provide accelerated training opportunities for individuals exhibiting leadership potential.

Sponsorship:
The Cotton Leadership Program is an education project of The Cotton Foundation sponsored through a grant from DuPont Crop Protection. The National Cotton Council’s Member Services department manages the program.

Program Calendar:
Sessions consist of six, one-week sessions and one, two-day trip to attend the graduation ceremony. Generally, sessions are held in September, November, January, March, April and June. Graduation is held in conjunction with the National Cotton Council’s mid-year Board of Directors meeting in August.

Class Composition:
The class is comprised of ten members, including one producer from each cotton production region, plus one representative from each of the following segments: cooperative, cottonseed crusher, ginner, manufacturer, merchant and warehouser.

Expenses:
The program covers expenses for lodging, meals and travel. Telephone calls, laundry and other personal expenses are the responsibility of each participant. A "free" evening is scheduled during each session and participants are responsible for any expenses they incur during this time.

Participant Selection:
The National Cotton Council’s Leadership Development Committee screens applications and selects program participants.
