EVALUATION FOR SHORT FIBER CONTENT BY PEYER AND FIBROGRAPH

H.B. Cooper, John Pellow, David Anderson, and John Palmer

ABSTRACT

The short fiber content determined by the Fibrograph Model 630 is as good or perhaps better than the short fiber content as measured by the Peyer AL-101. SFI by the Fibrograph is a much faster way to evaluate for short fiber and is obtained during the evaluation for length and length uniformity. The data suggests that small differences in cotton could be separated readily with an increase in number of observations. The Fibrograph procedure would not be as operator sensitive.
