CONTROL OF NIGHTSHADE AND ANNUAL MORNINGGLORY WITH STAPLE HERBICIDE

S.D. Wright and R.N. Vargas

ABSTRACT

Acala cotton fields infested with nightshade were treated with varying rates of DPX-PE350 at different stages of cotton development. DPX-PE350 gave the greatest control of black and hairy nightshade at the .75 to 2.0 oz/a rate. Cotton injury was greatest when rates were over 1.0 oz rate. Weed control was greater and cotton injury less when applied in sequential treatments at (1) early postemergence (EP) over the top of cotyledon to four-leaf stage and (2) late postemergence (LP) as a directed spray approximately 14 to 21 days following the first application.
