THE MARKETING OF COTTON IN NONWOVENS

Ginger L. McGann

ABSTRACT

Products made from cotton are perceived by the consumer to be quality products. Manufacturers of nonwoven products can gain a competitive edge, by incorporating bleached cotton into their product lines. The nonwovens technical staff at Cotton Incorporated has developed a fiber processing system that improves bleached cotton fiber quality and meets roll goods manufacturing requirements. Although, these developments have assisted nonwoven roll goods producers, cotton's share of the market, without an ample supply of bleached cotton, will be limited. In order to increase cotton's share of the market and compete with synthetic fibers in nonwoven products another bleached cotton supplier is necessary.
