Cotton Quality in Relation to Merchandising

Rudi E. Scheidt

ABSTRACT

I suppose I was asked to address this subject since for the last few years I have made a number of talks and talked to a large number of people about the need for competitiveness in both yield and quality for American cotton.

It is too simplistic when talking of cotton quality in relation to merchandising to talk only of such factors as strength, length, cleanliness, etc. Our needs for these have been well expressed and whereas I will refer to them later, I would like to talk about cotton quality in the broad sense.
