The Evaluation of Root-Knot Nematode Resistance in Exotic Cotton Race Stocks by Gel Electrophoresis

R. Gary Smith and J.R. Gannaway

ABSTRACT

Race stocks T-27, T-28 and T-1 76, resistant to root-knot nematodes, show different gel electrophoresis banding patterns when infected compared to uninfected seedlings. Race stocks T-3, T-9 and T-31, susceptible to root-knot nematodes, show little change when infected compared to uninfected seedlings. These data indicate possible delay in activation of resistant mechanisms.
