Minimum Tillage Cotton as a Conservation Measure in North Mississippi - An Economic Evaluation

Tom M. Jones

ABSTRACT

North Mississippi is a region with severe soil erosion problems. Cotton production is threatened by loss of topsoil. This paper examines the cost of constructing conservation measures and concludes that adopting some degree of minimum tillage is a viable economic alternative. Reduced tillage studies from the region are evaluated. Comparisons are made to determine economic importance.
