Mite Control in Western Cotton with Captures 2.0 EC Insecticide-Miticide

James J. Knabke and R.D. Kukas

ABSTRACT

Bifentlirin (proposed common name), the active ingredient in Capture® 2.0 EC insecticide/miticide ( = FMC 54800), was discovered by FMC Corporation. Early screening tests indicated excellent activity for the control of tetranychid spider mites. Field tests under western cotton growing conditions over several years confirm that bifenthrin is active as a miticide under field conditions. Control of several species was obtained at rates of 0.04 - 0.12 lb active ingredient/ acre. Initial and residual control is rate dependent.
