Aerial Applicator and Mixer-Loader Exposure to Cypermethrin During ULV Application to Cotton

Donald E. Nye

ABSTRACT

Both Potential and Actual dermal exposure of pilots and mixer-loaders to cypermethrin were determined for aerial ULV application at a rate of 0.06 lb ai/A. Potential exposure of pilots was 1.08 mg/8 hours, while actual exposure was 0.66 mg 18 hours. Potential exposure to mixer-loaders was 10.5 mg/8 hours, while actual exposure was 2.43 mg/8 hours. Exposure was principally to the hands of pilots and to the hands and forearms of mixer-loaders, Less than 10 percent of the actual exposure was absorbed and elimination of the absorbed cypermethrin occurred within 4 days of exposure.
