Cotton Collecting on Nine Carribean Islands and South Florida

A. Edward Percival, J. Schwendiman, and J.L. Belot

ABSTRACT

Gossypium hirsutum and four G. barbadense were collected during late February and March, 1985 in Trinidad and Tobago, Netherlands Antilles (Curacao, Bonaire, and Aruba), Jamaica, Grand Cayman, Florida, The Dominican Republic, and Puerto Rico. The 184 accessions collected will add to the cotton germplasm diversity of the Gossypium Collection. The cotton collecting expedition was a collaborative project between USDA-ARS, C.I.R.A.D. (Centre de Cooperation International en Recherche Agronomique pour le Development), France, and FAO-UN (Food and Agricultural organization of the United Nations). A.E. Percival represented USDA-ARS, and J.A. Schwendiman and J.L. Belot represented C.I.R.A.D.
