Cotton Dust Control: Opening and Blending

Andrew G. Schauder

ABSTRACT

The control of cotton dust levels in the opening and blending operations is achieved through the use of enclosures to prevent the cotton dust from escaping into the workplace environment. The dust is removed from the enclosed machinery by local exhaust ventilation, cleaned and either returned to the workplace or exhausted to the outside. Three examples of how cotton dust control was achieved in opening and blending operations are discussed.
