Neps in Ginned Lint: A Review of Research

Gino J. Mangialardi, Jr.

ABSTRACT

This paper reviews research on nep formation in cotton during the period 1949-79. It describes technical faults associated with neps, explains how neps are measured, and gives an account on how neps are created during the harvesting, ginning, and processing operations. The publication compiles the available significant information from previous research and formulates a basis for new studies to reduce the formation of neps in cotton.
