National Cotton Variety Testing Survey Results

D. Bowman

ABSTRACT

A survey of procedures used in conducting cotton variety testing was sent to various public and private individuals involved in variety testing as well as to extension agronomists across the cotton belt in the fall of 1994. Nearly an equal number of responses were received from public and private individuals. For the most part those in private industry conduct trials in a similar manner to those in public institutions. Private industry does conduct more irrigated trials, analyzes more fiber samples and other traits measured while collecting more agronomic data than the public variety testers.
