ABSTRACT

The International Cotton Advisory Committee (ICAC) undertakes a survey on the structure of research, institutions involved in cotton research and current projects in various disciplines of production research in the world. The results presented in this paper have been taken from data revised during 1994. A comprehensive report was published in September 1994 and is available from the ICAC. The report covers the structure of research and the contact persons and the complete addresses of the institutes involved in cotton research. In 44 countries, there are 208 institutions involved in cotton research. China (Mainland) has the highest number of institutes engaged in cotton research and highest projects in the field of breeding and genetics, agronomy and entomology. Australia and the USA have more projects in entomology compared with other disciplines. Pakistan and India have the highest number of people working on variety development.
