COTMAP2: A Producer-Oriented Computer Program for Mapping Cotton Plants at the End-Of-Season

C. Watson, Jr.

ABSTRACT

collectively. the original COTMAP program was designed to provide data summarization and statistical analysis of designed experiments of up to two factors. Accordingly, the original COTMAP program contained a great deal of statistical terminology. Currently an effort is underway to develop a more producer-oriented version of this program named COTMAP2. COTMAP2 will allow for the comparison of different fields and sites within fields. Much of the statistical jargon will be eliminated; however, the data will be subjected to analysis of variance using a nested design. The program will allow for data entry from the keyboard and from existing ASCII text files, thus allowing the use of field data logging equipment. Variables to be inputted include node of first fruiting branch, number of monopodia and sympodia, number of monopodial bolls, plant height, and numbers of sympodial bolls in the first, second, and other positions. Primary input variables, as well as, boll distribution and boll retention will be analyzed and reported.
