A New Development in Cotton Opening/Cleaning Equipment for Nonwoven and Conventional Textiles

H. Charles Allen, Jr., Phillip E. Dabbs

ABSTRACT

The LINTMASTER Opener/Cleaner is a new opening/cleaning machine that was conceived by Cotton Incorporated and built by John D. Hollingsworth on Wheels, Inc. under a cooperative Research Agreement. The machine is unique in its ability to open and clean bleached cotton intended for nonwoven production, as well as raw cotton for conventional textile production, however more in depth research is necessary to verify the early stage findings. In both applications, the superior opening and cleaning processes are conducted at a minimum of 600 pounds/hour without causing unusual fiber damage.
