Producer's Experience with Naturalis® L: Five Years Control of Cotton Insect Pests in the Lower Rio Grande Valley, Texas

Neal G. Galloway

ABSTRACT

The first field tests of Naturalis-L began in 1988. Results were encouraging, however, there were formulation problems and use of the product wasn't economical. By 1992 the formulation problems were solved and it was possible to use the product in a cost effective manner. A brief description of the progress of this product from small plots to large commercial acreage and the evaluation of various application methods are described. The final results of this work was the successful use of Naturalis-L in our Integrated Pest Management(IPM) system for cotton insect control. Yields from my cotton fields in 1993 were 996 pounds of lint per acre as compared to 500 pounds of lint which was the average yield in cotton in this part of Texas.
