Uses of M-PEDE® Insecticide/Fungicide for the Management of Cotton Pests

Chris Conlan, Robert Sibley, Robert Haygood and Greg Bradfisch

ABSTRACT

M-Pede® is an initial contact insecticide made from potassium salts of fatty acids that is registered for use against a variety of insects. Studies were conducted to show enhancement of synthetic pesticides and stand alone efficacy. M-Pede enhanced synthetic miticides and aphicides by up to 30 percent when added at 1-2 quarts per acre and applied at volumes of 10-20 gallons per acre. It also showed enhancement of three different classes of synthetic larvicides when mixed in at 1 percent. When applied alone in small plot field trials at 20 gallons per acre, M-Pede gave up to 50 percent control of adult whiteflies. It was also found to be very soft on beneficial insects. These traits, plus its unique mode of action, should make it a useful tool in pest management programs.
