Application of Modular Filtration to Cost-Effective Cotton Dust Control in Textile Processes; Especially in Spinning Through Warping

J.H. Hanley and F.M. Shofner

ABSTRACT

A novel modular filter has been developed which intentionally uses airborne lint fragments in textile manufacturing processes to build an extremely effect ive microdust media. Modular filtration capital and operating, costs can be one-third and one-fourth the costs of some central filtration systems to achieve the same dust control performance. A PCAM test protocol for evaluating modular filters is outlined. ModuFil results from several mill trials will be summarized.
