Control of Thrips on Seedling Cotton with In-Furrow Insecticides

Phillip M. Roberts

ABSTRACT

Field tests investigated the efficacy of in-furrow systemic insecticides for control of early season thrips in cotton and their influence on plant stand establishment. Aldicarb, disulfoton, and phorate provided good control of early season thrips. The safening effect of disulfoton and phorate to herbicide injury from clomazone was also demonstrated. Addition of an in-furrow fungicide in combination with insecticide treatments improved plant stands and yields.
