Release of Three Upland Cotton Germplasm Lines Possessing High Lint Percent

Daryl T. Bowman

ABSTRACT

NC 88-90, NC 88-91, and NC 88-95 are cotton (Gossypium hirsutum L.) germplasm lines possessing high lint percent and the glabrous trait. These lines are F(5/6) selections from a cross involving 'McNair 235' and NC 177-16-30. NC 177-16-30 is an insect resistant line released in 1985 by Dr. Joshua Lee, USDA-ARS, Raleigh, NC (1). NC 177-16-30 is characterized by high glandulosity, glabrousness controlled by the T(2) allele, small bolls, a brittle seed coat, and high lint percent.
